Saddle Fitting

Here at Fox Saddlers our Society of Master Saddlers Qualified and Experienced Saddle Fitter is available to check your horse’s current saddle or we can fit your horse with a saddle from our extensive range of New and Second Hand Saddles and carry out remedial saddle fitting where necessary. We normally cover a distance of up to 50 miles radius of Wetherby. Before your consultation with our saddle fitter one of our friendly team members will discuss your requirements and gather some information on the rider, your horse and planned activities including;

• What work you are currently doing with your horse.

• Your horse’s height, type, age and condition.

• What your chosen disciplines are.

• If you are require your current saddle checking or if you are wishing to purchase a new saddle.

• Your budget if you require a new saddle.

• Please ensure you have a suitable area/surface for you to ride  and the horse has been worked previously where necessary

If your saddle requires a small remedial alteration  this might be possible to do on site, however major adjustments and full re-flocks will be carried out in our work shop. A well-fitting saddle will help you both reach your full potential, so our aim is to provide a comfortable, well-fitting saddle for your horse and you. However it is important to remember that horses regularly change shape due to a variety of reasons and is therefore important to remember that a saddle can only be fitted to the horse seen on the day. These changes could be caused by:

• Workload change.

• Age.

• Change of season.

• Illness.

Our Charges – All prices are inclusive of VAT

New and Existing Saddles:

• Assessment: £35 per horse.

• Travel: 50p per mile. (round trip)

• £15.00 per additional saddle for the same horse.

Flair Saddles:

• Assessment and Adjustment: £50 per horse/saddle.

• Travel: 50p per mile. (round trip)

WOW Saddles:

• Assessment: £50 if saddle was purchased from us

• Assessment: £85 if saddle was not purchased from us.

• Travel: 50p per mile. (round trip)

Alterations from £7.50 e.g.:

• Gullet plate change £7.50.

Upon the saddle fitters arrival please ensure that your horse is clean and dry, that a hard level surface and lighting is available. *Mileage is calculated from Wetherby LS22 6NX.
