Saddle Fitting

Fox Saddlers have a Society of Master Saddlers Qualified and Experienced Saddle Fitter available to check your horse as necessary, or we can fit your horse with one of the extensive range of New and Second Hand saddles we have in stock. Before we come out to you, we take details such as * what you would like to do with your horse * what work you are currently doing with your horse * height, type, age and condition of your horse * whether you would like a new or second hand saddle, or a leather or synthetic version * your budget * any additional information you think we may need- maybe your horse has had a bad back in the past, or if he has being out of work- this is useful information for us!

After taking these details, we will select which saddles we think may be suitable for you and your horse, and they are bought to your consultation. We provide a wide variety of saddles, including well known brands such as Wow, Albion, Jeffries, Bates, Passier, Ideal, Kent & Masters, Wintec, Thorowgood and and many more. We can also check and adjust Flair saddles- and we can have your existing saddle converted to Flair. We can also suppy Made to Measure, Custom made Saddles should you require one.

Fox Saddlers are happy to work together with your Veterinary Surgeon, Physiotherapist and your Instructor especially for remedial saddle fitting to ensure that your saddle is suitable for your horse and yourself!! A well fitting saddle will help you both reach your full potential, so our aim is to provide a comfortable, well fitting saddle for your horse and you. We can also, with prior arrangement, fit or check your saddle onsite, in our large car park- please call the shop for details if you do require this service!

Our Charges

We normally cover a distance of up to 60 miles radius of Wetherby Travelling- 40p per mile Standard Saddle check/refit- £25.00 Wow/Flair Fit/Re-balance- £40.00 Discounts available for 3 or more horses.

The Workshop

We have an onsite Workshop,in which our Saddle, Bridle and Rug repairs are undertaken. We can do all manner of repairs- from a few simple stitches to a complete overhaul of your saddle, bridle etc. We can re-flock or re-balance saddles, shorten or lengthen straps, or make an item from scratch if you require a truly bespoke item. We can also shorten your long leather riding boots, or widen them (providing they do not have zips in. We can also put new zips in your chaps, re-cover your rubber reins, replace straps on your horses boots or replace buckles on your headcollars or reins and much more.
